Our History

Founded by Andrew and Ilma Bartha in 1988, Silver Vase has grown from a tiny south Florida shade house into a second-generation family business that produces more than five million premier quality plants each year. Our greenhouse operation now spans over one million square feet across several locations in the United States.

Even after Hurricane Andrew destroyed our main facilities in 1992, the Silver Vase team remained undaunted. We bounced back and rebuilt stronger than ever, still upholding our core values of uncompromising quality, tireless innovation and sustainability. Since then, we have successfully weathered three other major hurricanes, each time keeping our supply chain and products virtually unaffected. This passion, persistence and ability to learn from even the most challenging experiences has paid off, as today Silver Vase continues to thrive as North America’s most innovative orchid grower.
